Real Adult World (RAW) creates and supports residential communities where adults can live independently while building the routines, relationships and confidence that make life meaningful. 

Our residential life model supports people as they step into the next stage of life, whatever that may be, where they manage their schedules, participate in their communities and take more ownership of their daily lives.

Residents live in homes and apartments within active neighborhoods where they are staff supported to manage responsibilities and spend time with friends and neighbors.

A home should be more than just a place to sleep. RAW supported communities are designed to feel like welcoming neighborhoods where residents build friendships, share experiences and grow in confidence. 

Within these environments, residents:

• develop routines that reflect real adult life

• assistance planning schedules and appointments

Residential Life is designed to help people experience the responsibilities and freedoms that come with adulthood. Residents practice real-world skills through everyday activities such as:

• grocery shopping and meal preparation
• managing personal schedules and appointments
• budgeting and financial responsibility
• navigating transportation and community resources
• exploring employment, volunteering and hobbies

Real Adult World provides overnight safety and support through a combination of live-in mentors and remote monitoring technology. This hybrid approach allows residents to live with greater independence while ensuring help is always available when needed.

Rather than relying solely on traditional overnight staffing models, RAW combines the presence of a trusted live-in staff member with modern remote support systems. This allows residents to enjoy a calm, home-like environment while maintaining strong safety protections throughout the night.

Many RAW homes include live-in mentors who are part of the residential community. These team members live in the home and provide a consistent presence that helps create a stable and welcoming environment. Live-in mentors support residents by:

• responding to overnight emergencies if they arise
• helping maintain a calm and safe household environment
• building relationships with residents as part of daily life
• supporting community culture within the home

Because live-in mentors are part of the community, residents benefit from a familiar and trusted presence rather than rotating overnight staff.  These essential staff members benefit from having stable housing.

RAW also incorporates remote overnight monitoring technology to strengthen safety while preserving independence. These systems allow trained staff to monitor safety alerts and respond quickly if assistance is needed. Remote supports may include:

• overnight safety monitoring
• emergency alert systems
• environmental sensors and smart safety devices
• communication tools that allow residents to request assistance

Remote monitoring provides an additional layer of protection without requiring constant in-person supervision.
